Welcome to George Washington Elementary School's Art Room.

George Washington Elementary School is located in Southeast Iowa. We take pride in the fact that we are located in the heart of our town where we feel a strong sense of community in our school building. We have a supportive PTA, that has been actively involved in playground improvements and acts as sponsor of our "Artist in Residence" program. Members of the community work as "VIPS" (volunteers in the public schools) to provide assistance to staff and students. Monthly pride and citizenship awards are presented to our highest achieving students in areas of excellence and responsible behavior. We are proud to announce that our school is a recipient of a new 3 year "Success 4 Grant" for school improvement and a"Technology Literacy Challenge Grant" for technology training and equipment.

This page will help you learn about our art program and the students who work here. We have about 350 students, Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, who attend art classes one day in a three day rotating cycle. So that means they have art once or twice a week and the class periods are 45 minutes long. Our studies are on a 3 year curriculum cycle that cover various periods in time, art of different cultures, and computer generated art.
