Keokuk Middle School Guidance
Welcome to the Keokuk Middle School Guidance office. The KMS Guidance office is staffed with two full time guidance counselors and a secretary. Students are assigned to the counselors alphabetically. The counselors at middle school strive to deliver a comprehensive guidance program that focuses on the academic, career and personal needs of the students. The counselors are available from 7:30-3:30 PM and can be reached at 524-3737. We have provided a number of links to other sites for your informational needs. 4-YEAR PLANS - During Trimester 2 the counselors have been working with the 8th graders to prepare a 4-year course plan for high school. State law requires this plan along with a parent/guardian signature. Think of this 4-year plan of high school courses as a work in progress. It is amendable and will be reviewed each year. The web site, www.ihaveaplaniowa.gov, is used for exploring career options and building the 4-year plans. The counselors and Mrs. Terry meet with the students in Mrs. Terry's Life Skills class to complete the plan. Parents may view and amend this plan at any time by clicking on the link above.
ITBS - The Iowa Assessements (formerly the Iowa Test of Basic Skills) will be given during the third week of April. The tests have been completely redesigned.
