    Environmental Science (3) 11-12 Elective

Prerequisite: Physical Science, Biology or Every Day Biology

This course is designed to give the student the scientific background to help them understand the earth's changing environment. This course is presented in four segments: textbook readings, outside readings, current events, and laboratory experiences including field work. It will provide the background information necessary to make decisions related to environmental issues. The student will learn to appreciate nature and develop a concern to protect our environment. Career education in environmental science will also be presented during this course. Students will need a field notebook and a classroom notebook.

    Chemistry (3) 11-12 Elective

    Prerequisite: Algebra II/Trig

Explore the "Central Science,"Chemistry. Study matter, its structure, properties, composition, and the changes that matter undergoes. The results of chemistry are all about you. The plastics in your stereo, the toothpaste you brush with, the hair spray that fogs your room, the foods you eat and even the medicines that cure you; are all products of chemistry. Chemistry will provide the background that you will need for more specialized training at a college or technical school.
