CHEMCOM

Chemistry in the Community

What is ChemCom all about?

Chemistry in the Community is an alternative approach to chemistry for college-bound high school students. The ChemCom approach recognizes that while only a few students will become chemistry majors (>1%), all will become citizens required to make decisions for themselves, their communities, and the nation, on issues involving chemistry.

The ChemCom program emphasizes problem solving and decision making skills and is built around several types of student activities. These activities include three levels of decision making exercises, all of which require student participation and cooperation.

The textbook used is ChemCom Chemistry in the Community Second Edition A Project of the American Chemical Society, Kendall Hunt publisher.
